Autorapide
was started by Andreas Adamou in 1984 when he relocated to
Somerset after working in central London for 10 years or so.
After starting as an apprentice mechanic he later progressed to
be the joint manager of the then major London Morgan
dealer Libra Motive.
While
working for Libra Motive Andreas' responsibilities included
the competition preparation of the Morgan Motor Company
Plus 8, known as MMC II, that was to become the 1978 BRDC &
1979 BRSCC winner of the Production Sports Car championship;
driven by Charles Morgan and Rob Wells. In 1980 Andreas' attentions
moved to a further Libra Motive developed Plus 8, MMC 111,
that went on to win the STP Modsports championship at the first
attempt!
Given
the London environment it was not all racing, or Morgans, and Andreas
also got involved in servicing and repairing all sorts of other
exotic
cars.
Subsequently
on moving
to the West Country it was only natural that Andreas decided
to start his own business along the
same lines. This plan was further endorsed when the Morgan
Motor Company recognised his contribution
and appointed Autorapide as an Official Morgan Service Agent, an
agency that
we
are very
proud to still hold today!
Over the
last 20 years Autorapide has grown and built an enviable reputation
not just for Servicing and Competion Preparation of Morgans, but
also Ferrari, Porsche and classic Alfa Romeos. Like the range of
marques the types of services offered has also grown and now includes
Sales and Restoration.
